\"Skydive<\/a>What Is Indoor Skydiving?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Indoor skydiving is a simulation of freefall. The feeling of falling is created by fans which generate upward wind. When we enter the airflow, it feels like being cushioned on a bed of air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The indoor skydiving facility at Skydive Perris was one of the first built by Skyventure. At 12 feet in diameter, there is plenty of space to fly 4-way formations if you\u2019re an experienced skydiver. The space is also ideal for first timers to fly around and experience what it\u2019s like to move your body in the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The History of Wind Tunnels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Traditionally, wind tunnels were used to test aerodynamics. Usually horizontal in orientation, they help engineers and scientists understand the way the wind moves over an object.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first person to fly in a vertical wind tunnel did so in 1964 in Ohio. The first wind tunnel intended for recreational flight was built in 1978 by John St Germain who wanted his children to experience freefall in what he considered to be a safer environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dozens of wind tunnels now exist in the world and many of those are intended solely for the use of skydivers and those who want to experience body flight. Skyventure at Skydive Perris was one of the first wind tunnels for skydivers and remains one of the only wind tunnels situated on a skydiving drop zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Try Indoor Skydiving?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Indoor skydiving is ideal for anyone who wants to experience the sensation of skydiving without actually jumping out of a plane. It\u2019s also perfect for anyone who is too young to jump from a plane as you can fly in the tunnel from a much younger age, even as young as three years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sensation of indoor skydiving, while simulating outdoor freefall, also differs in many ways and is growing as a sport in its own right. Even if you\u2019ve experienced outdoor skydiving before, you can expect to enjoy your indoor skydiving flight and the sensations it brings with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wind tunnel at Skydive Perris is one of the only wind tunnels situated on a skydiving dropzone. Ideally located for indoor skydiving in Los Angeles and near San Diego and Orange County, our facility is home to some of the world\u2019s greatest skydiving teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wind tunnel provides outdoor skydivers with the perfect place to practice their sport. This is because the length of time spent in the airflow at the wind tunnel is usually longer than you will spend in outdoor freefall in one jump, giving skydivers more time to refine their moves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The walls of the wind tunnel also provide a reference point so skydivers can tell how much they are moving and improve their body flight skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
