Work\u201d (or \u201cRW\u201d) is the word we use to describe \u201cflat\u201d jumps&#8211;where all the jumpers are oriented belly-to-earth, and the goal is to move relative to each other to take grips and make shapes. \u201cCanopy Relative Work\u201d (or \u201cCRW\u201d\/\u201dCReW\u201d) is the word we use to describe the discipline in which several (or many) jumpers fly parachutes relative to each other and link up into shapes in comparable ways. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">XRW is the newest addition to this full house of \u201crelatives.\u201d The acronym stands for \u201cCross Relative Work,\u201d and it\u2019s the word we use to describe the art of flying big wingsuits with tiny parachutes.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This discipline is no beginner\u2019s pursuit. It\u2019s a challenge right at the outset to find pilots capable of successfully navigating either the suit or the parachute. Enormous wingsuits require incredibly delicate handling (as they\u2019re widely acknowledged to be tantamount to aircraft, albeit the most pernickety, ill-tempered aircraft on the planet) and tiny parachutes seem to relish throwing themselves into a brutal malfunction (nevermind that they always have to be landed at racetrack speeds). Putting the two elements together is nuts. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In fact: There\u2019s a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">relatively<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> tiny number of pilots who have actually successfully \u201cdocked\u201d an XRW formation.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s also <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amazing<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">XRW is beautiful to watch. It\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">invigorating<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to push the boundaries of what\u2019s possible. And there\u2019s much to be said for the sheer challenge of the thing: Putting an XRW jump together takes a lot of trust, preparation and practice. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">discipline is SO new. To even put on a <\/span><a href=\"\/blog\/wingsuit-flying-how-to-get-started\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">wingsuit for the first time<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, you\u2019ll need to have at least 200 recent skydives under your belt; to fly a tiny parachute with skill (and land without a crunch), you\u2019ll have to put in more hop-\u2019n\u2019-pops than you can shake an exceedingly long stick at.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re here to help!
